IGS Energy -- Profile Analysis

I read the other review here and they don't sound very educated. ALL SUPPLIERS HAVE TERM LIMITS!! If you don't renew, you go variable! As for "being switched without knowing..." IGS has purchased several energy companies over the years....it's by default people.

Don't complain if you don't renew for a fixed rate, don't complain if you're past company was bought out because they did shitty business. I'm thankful IGS educates.

When started with IGS, they said they would always be 10 % lower on rate and for first 5 they were,i was with them for 15 years, after first 5 years i stopped checking, then for past year price has been significantly higher, when i called they said i wasn't on preferred plan and hadn't been for past 5 years, their rate was 75 vs 50 for columbia gas 150 % higher and according to them had been for 5 years, note they never let me know, I wish I would have noticed earlier, saved 10 % for first 5yrs, paid 50 % higher for last 5yrs, not sure of center 5yrs, but paid significantly more in the end, I guess that is the plan. Unhappily scammed!

I just noticed on my recent bill that the price being charged went up over 50%. This is a lot. Called and they said I switched in December, which I never approved. Said they acquired Talen energy and that they went out of business as their rates were too low. I tried to discuss a lower rate but was simply told that there will be new rates March 1st. My bill has increased about $60 per month. Seems pretty unethical to me

I'm rehabbing my home gas lines were ripped out gas off at meter igs charged me over 200 dollars for one month when my gas was shut off its blamed it on nicor so I called nicor they told me I only owed them 20 bucks 18 to be exact igs igs kept blaming nicor nicor and your electric supplier will not charge you igs rates cancel igs don't pay there cancellation fee nicor and your electric supplier will not charge you igs rates just pay the amount for nicor and same for your electric your paying your bill up to 3x the amount of which it should be and igs Costner service is all foreigners you can ballet understand igs is nothing more than liars and scammers and need shut down

That the supplier this supplier will ever be used again. The bill is wrong and who ever read the meter was wrong. This place is rented you will not be getting unwanted charges from me because I will be calling the PUCO

Today I found out that I have been enrolled with this company for over a year. I am just astounded as I NEVER signed up for this. I'm not sure what loophole this company is using to take money from me but they are a shady garbage company. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR SUPPLY. Also, how is this not identity fraud???

When it came time to switch to a new provider, this company tried to block the transition, saying I had renewed with them. This was a total fabrication on their part. I ended up paying a much longer time for the variable rate. Ripoff!!!

Moved into my new house and IGS called wanting me to sign up with them without even seeing my first bill. Got first bill and they called back. Going through the 'closure' call I noticed their rate is higher than a lot of other's. So I cancelled. The original guy called me back sounding very annoyed and making sigh noises.

I would definitely not recommend this company. Very rude customer service when you don't renew your very long contracts. Found cheaper electricity elsewhere and wanted to try something different for a period of time - pushy and rude. In addition, in two months while I've been a so called "free agent" still with IGS as the supplier (without contract), they almost doubled the amount I pay per kWh - literally. Needless to say, I would never recommend nor return to this company. I hope others had a better experience than I did with IGS

That single five star review was obviously written by an IGS salesperson! I'm actually pretty well educated and I can calculate how much higher IGS's rate is than my current provider . . . and the answer is: 50%. Bottom-line: if they can afford to send people to your door, their rates are going to be higher. "Educate yourself" is good advice, but do it at home, on-line, at sites like this then choose your own provider. You'll be happy you did.

My first encounter with IGS was when l rented utilities weren't even in my name and they tried to get me to sign a contract with them for gas supply, which I was not authorized to do in any capacity. Knocking on doors, making you think that you already have business with them even though you don't, pushy sales tactics, predatory last-century sales grift is their bread and butter. It's truly bizarre to see a company operate like this in this decade.

What IGS does is get you to sign a contract locking in a rate for energy/gas supply for an extended period of time. If their sales people are in your face on any given month you can bet that they're offering a decent rate that month compared to other suppliers. It seems like a deal so you lock it in. Then in a few months, energy costs from other suppliers go down (reacting to the market) and you're still paying your contract rate, which may now be higher than market price (if you haven't signed their contract, the utility will just give you whatever supplier's gas is cheapest for a given month). This is anecdotal but they always contact me at the beginning of fall for a gas contract, right as rates are going up. Maybe they've got a policy of keeping their rate low relative to the other suppliers for a month or two, then reverting to market price after their fall "sales push." Either way, the rest of the year when other suppliers are offering cheap gas, you're paying heating-season prices.

Unfortunately when I bought a home I made the mistake of signing a contract with IGS. A rep appeared waving a tablet displaying Columbia Gas information for my address and told me he represented my gas supplier. He approached when I was in my driveway with 3 friends. I signed. 36 months locked in rate for natural gas and a "home warranty" ($15 a month) which is impossible to utilize or get out of since their online account management tools "can't locate my account." The only way to do business with them is when their usually aggravated sales reps call or come to your door. I've repeatedly contacted their customer service via email, thinking this would negate the pushy tactics, to help me sync my account to their online "tools" just so I can see when exactly the contract ends and how to opt out of it. I have never even gotten a reply. At every turn they try to get you on the phone with a sales person, or get your address so they can send a sales person out to your house so that they can lean on you and get you to sign something you don't understand.

I've been unsuccessful at managing, altering, or cancelling my contract because I refuse to talk to their sales people who come to my house knocking and shouting my name in windows. This company covers its shady dealings by having very little online footprint. They didn't have an email address associated with my account. All they're interested in is selling me a contract for energy and getting me to re-sign a new gas contract, not in helping me understand, utilize, or manage the services I already bought from them.

Be sure to check out the BBB and ohenergyratings pages on this company. I've read plenty of stories from other people--$200 unavoidable cancellation fees, contracts being renewed without consent, expired contracts reverting to "variable rate" contracts with IGS as the exclusive energy provider, no access to account information. And worst of all is that this company provides no value--they are just another energy supplier, one of many, who has elected, unlike the others, to aggressively insert themselves between consumer and utility and extract value from the consumer. Where there's smoke, there's fire. This company has atrocious business practices, zero transparency, almost no online tools to help you manage/understand your account, insists on doing business in person or by phone, and their sales people actually lie to your face to make you think they represent someone you already have business with even if you don't. I just want to help other people keep from making the same mistake I did

A territory manager named James Basilone stopped by my property. Told me I already had a home warranty and just wanted to see how I was enjoying it. Told him I did not recall paying for anything. He asked to look at my gas bill to see if it was energy efficient, and I figured it was no harm. I did not plan on letting him sell me anything. Little did I know he took the account number from my bill and signed me up for his most expensive plan without my consent or knowledge. I was surprised with a $39.95 charge on my next gas bill. The company was nice in terms of cancelling it and refunding me, and let me know that James was supposed to have me sign and consent which means he forged my consent. Do not let James talk to you.

never let these people in your door.
They recently called and made appointment with me for evaluating my home for solar option. The appointment was suppose to be 30 minutes. It went on and on. I only put a signature on my credit check. That signature then became my consent of authorizing the whole project! I did not even allow the sale person to enter my house. but they claim that they had all the electrical box & roof beam pictures. Their business practice is shaky and need to be sued.

We previously had NOPEC in our neighborhood. An IGS rep stopped by our house telling us who they were and saying that all of the neighborhood was switching in order to not experience an increase in payment. I was told and reassured that my price would not necessarily go down, but it WOULD NOT GO UP. The first month after switching, my bill was double.... Please stay away

Shame on you for having a young man come to my elderly mothers home! There are no soliciting signs up. How dare you! My mother was so scared and she should be! Shame on you!

I did the Eeny mini mini mo catch the father by the toe and decided to drop IGS in 2019 for my home in 43207.. The company didnt cover most of the repairs causing me great stress and strain and sleepless nights. I dropped the insurance like a hot potato. You get your best ideas in the morning.

It was not explained to me that I will be paying for stored energy and my bill is considerably higher than PSEG and I also still get a bill from PSEG. My husband was in the hospital very Ill and they harassed me for the money. Id never do this again

Just moved into a new home so that usually brings out the parasites... was told the previous owner was a client (he was not) and that all the neighbors were (they are not) and that he was somehow affiliated with the township (again... no.) I honestly still can't believe people are allowed to come on people's property and use these high-pressure hustles. It also didn't help him that I've heard of his company and heard the horror stories from people they've scammed.

Signed up with them years ago with a fixed rate at 6 cents per kwh then which was good while it lasted then last month with no notice went to 10 cents and just figured it was because of the normal aes rate hike in the news then this month hit us with a 550 dollar bill and realized they were now charging us 16 cents per kwh. Figured it had to be a mistake called them and they told us no mistake your fixed rate contract expired and said they supposedly sent us a letter but never got it. They are lisrs and frauds and will screw you over whenever they get a chance stay away and avoid at all costs.

Was never informed about my account going variable, they jumped up over $100 in one month, when you call nobody cares to help you, cancelled service.

Do not go with this service. Their prices are so high that my bills have doubled. As a senior citizen I thought I was getting a good deal. Boy was I wrong. They won't let you cancel without paying a $99 cancellation fee. Customer service is the absolute worst. Filed a complaint with BBB. Avoid at all costs or you'll be paying much higher bills!! I will post everywhere I can letting people know what a scam this is.

They changed my rate to 0.1599 my Ive received a bill of $500 they changed it without my knowledge!! When I called them to let them know one of person who answered the phone he said that he did not see any letter been sent and the supervisor she said that there is what a joke!! First of all, I am always skeptical of door to door salespersons, but this is how this company operates. They caught my 79 year old husband instead. They talked him into a fixed. However they failed to acknowledge the length of the contract. We went from 3% rate to 16% without prior knowledge. Beware of anyone showing up at your door with a clipboard trying to sell energy rates that sound too good to be true. As with everything if it sounds too good to be trueit usually is.

They called saying they had been my provider for 5 years,they weren't, and wanted to update my plan,the woman became extremely pushy.I have never used this company.

They over charge and don't answer there phone, us mail, and there email.

The person who did the sign up work was here at 8pm in the evening I have to take time off from work. He said they had hour around the clock. When the power went out they were the ones to call

Nearly in tears how hard I work to be ripped off by these jerks. Charging me 210% more than peco electric current rate and they act like they look out for the consumer to save .. just unreal and rather sickening how people legally steal from people who ****ing struggle to save. Such a bitter world and these companys should be banned.. they knock on your door, promote huge power savings which last 6 months and then the bait and switch , switch is flipped and they raise your rate to a level thats not even comprehendible to local currant rates. No wonder the world has such aggravated people. They are middle men who simply take part in real companies and benefit from the working consumer.. my words need to go further. Better business bureau is only a part. Contacting Channel 6 news (as i personally know the lead management) and they will support and investigate this situation so others dont work their ass off each day to support a family and be ripped off like this. In the process of saying they want you to get an appointment with solar and house efficiency evaluation rep, a team of woman and man convincingly say that by looking at my bill, I am paying too much with the current supplier and they can offer a better rate, and that I am paying extra with this supplier, like a hidden charge, we agree on better rate than 11.88, which is 11cents, sign all, they leave, appt for solar gets cancelled, I find out soon enough that actually the rate is 11.99 not 11, I am switching the supplier asap based on not true representation after I talked to them back and forth on that rate, I called repreeentative to tell them they lied, they tell me but you signed everything didnt u see what u signed, I am not arguing with them, a week later I get a call from the same man who came to the house, saying that we are on the recorded line and that I did not fullfil the 9 mo or year contratc and switched so fast, I tell him the reason and I am told I have to pay 99$ cancellation fee. There u go folks thats how they nail you. On a principal basis, I am not staying with the company who lied to me while being in my house no matter how high the cancellation fee, nah this one is a no no in my books ever.

I had a sales person knock in my door claiming previous owner of the home used them. Everything this man told me was a lie! You will pay More, then they will cancel you claiming you picked another electric company and then you will be double charged and the new electric company that is picked for you will also charge you! I'm on social security and this has cost me around $800 that I don't have! My advice DO NOT USE iGS, total scam

we bought the home and got this contract inherited for igs solar however it is such a shame we can not come out of this contract and no bound to live with this scam solar system

I will never recommend IGS to anyone. My bill for them has doubled. I am shocked that it went up so high. Do not go with IGS

I entered a 36-month agreement with a fixed rate with Dominion on Jan 27, 2020. The contract took effect on Jan 28. IGS bought Dominion in mid 2022.

They switched the contract's rate on Nov 29, 2022, two months ahead of the expiration, to a rate about 342% of the 36-month rate.

I called them three times explaining the situation and tell them PECO's December meter reading was pushed to Jan 3, 2023. They never called me back or emailed back.

They said they do not have the original contract form Dominion and told me to provide documents to prove my point.

On April 8, I sent them the January 2020 contract, the PECO bill in January 2020 and the PECO bill in December 2022. In that email, I asked them to show me the justification to ended the contract early and provide relevant documents.

For almost two weeks, I did not get any responses from IGS. I then sent three follow-up emails to them telling them I intend to leave a paper trail. Today (April 25), IGS sent me back this:
As previously advised, the billing is correct as it stands with no additional refund needed.

No explanation at all. No proof the contract started in end of November 2019. Just that.

Avoid this company.

Also please advise how can we follow up such as a class lawsuit? This company overcharged me about $135 not including fees and interests. Will the PA utility commission or similar regulatory agency will intervene and stop the abuses of IGS to so many customers (check BBB website on IGS).

Hope others don't fall for this poor quality business. They should not be listed as an option for their unethical business practices.

follow up call 2 weeks later, makes it sound like he is my current electricity supplier (he is not) and i need to update my contract before it gets changed to a variable rate. He was angry that I wouldn't drop everything and sign-up immediately. "it only takes 30 seconds and 2 clicks".

This company employs unscrupulous sales people. We were lied to by our salesman who told us we could cancel without penalty. He had me sign on an ipad and basically never showed us a contract but said he forwarded to us. We did not get copies so were unable to cancel within three days as it simply slipped our minds. After canceling we were charged cancelation fees. Not until I complained through BBB did we even see the agreement. Igs finally sent me the contracts 4 months later and basically told me to pound sand. This is a dishonest group with a rich man living in dublin enjoying his company's larceny. If you've had problems report it to the Ohio AG.

This is the first time I am writing a on on-line review. I hope it helps others to do their investigation before considering signing up with ISG.
When we were approached by a representative of ISG, he made a number of claims regarding our natural gas bills. The most egregious, stating switching to ISG would "guarantee" we would be paying less for natural gas going forward. We just received our first invoice. Our monthly budget went up by $ 109.00! To add insult to injury, we were out of town for 25 days that month!

I just had a salesgirl knock at my door. Tried to tell me my account had recently been switched to an out of state provider and IGS Energy wanted to switch us back. I've never changed anything on the account. We were never their customer in the first place! Argued with me for some time, I finally asked the salesgirl if the account had been changed from their service to another provider why did they let it happen in the first place. She said have a good day and left. This is a classic example of a Bait and Switch scheme! Also, the second time she has been to our neighborhood, we are on to her tactics.

Completely predatory company that charges a 200 dollar cancellation fee PER ACCOUNT. They lie and say there isn't one and shmooze you into going for clean energy, but your rates go up. You are locked into a contract. Shame on you.

DO NOT fall for these thieves like I did! I am embarrassed and livid. They will send someone to your home as if you are already their customer. They will make it out like they are simply explaining your rates to you as standard procedure. You won't see the CONTRACT that they trick you into signing. Once you realize it's a giant scam, it will be too late to cancel without having to pay the "early termination fee," as they only give you 7 days to do so.

IGS is a very poor choice for many reasons. After being a long standing customer for 5 yrs I have experienced that they still dont have proper customer service available.Specifically when you cancel an account with them they dont even send an email. Their simple answer is that they dont have a system that will send a cancellation email. Personally I would not recommend IGS after being with their home warranty plan for 5 yrs and electric and gas bundle for 3 yrs.

This company is conducting fraudulent business. After six months of not paying attention to my bill, I decided to take a look and saw that I had a new supplier, IGS Energy who was charging me significantly more than my previous supplier. I called them, and to my surprise, they claimed that my wife signed a contract when a sales representative came to our door. The problem is that my wife never did, and I'm locked into a 3 year contract with an early termination fee of $199.00 for both my electric and my gas. I have asked for a copy of the contract which was supposed to be emailed to me and I am still waiting for that contract. It's absurd to think that a sales representative can come to your home, claimed to have gotten a signature to switch suppliers and now I'm bonded by this ridiculous contract. I bare some responsibility for not checking my bill monthly, but the nerve of this company to switch my supplier without my actual permission is devious and outright criminal. Their account department is claiming that I waited too long to contact them so they can only waive one of the two termination fees. At this point, its probably worth keeping the contract, but I'll cut my losses so I won't have to deal with this company. They informed me that the sales representative, Jason is no longer with the company, but only God knows how many others he would have scammed to gain his commission.

IGS came to my door and talked me into signing up, didn't tell me there was an early cancel fee. We'll by the time I got my paper work I noticed the early cancel fee two weeks after I agreed to sign up. Not only that but I did the bundle with gas and they're price was twice as much. The representative told me my gas and electric would drop by 20 percent. Not the case

I worked for these guys for a while. Stay far away. If youre really desperate for a cheaper utility bill, then just go on papowerswitch.com and sign up for the cheapest *fixed* rate (which is never igs). Its very hard to cancel with igs without having to pay a fee or a higher utility rate.

Beware that when your contract ends your rate will go up significantly. Unfortunately the process to switch back to incompetent Washington Gas may take months and in the meantime you will pay double the rate.

Listened to the solar pitch, signed to get more info and fortunately stopped before the soft credit check. I had an appointment scheduled to continue the process and had to cancel for a minor emergency. Received the rudest and most unhinged text diatribe from the salesman that it made me uneasy. Would he have sent it to a man? Im betting a hard NO. These people are predatory and relentless, dont even open the door.

My elderly father signed up for IGS Energy as an energy distribution company a year before he passed away. Shortly after he passed, we got telephone calls and mail correspondence asking for him to renew for an additional year. I informed the company that he was deceased and we would be changing the electric utility into my Mother's name. I never got around to changing it. A few months later, I saw some paperwork on my Mom's table. The IGS Energy folks came to my Mother's house and had her sign to not only keep IGS Energy for her electric, but added her gas utility as well. I asked her if she explained that her name wasn't on the utilities and that my Dad had passed away. She said the IGS Energy person was pushy and didn't care. I called the next day and talked to the supervisor of the person who came to the house. I explained that she was in no state to make decisions about utility suppliers and I was the power of attorney. The man told me I could cancel at any time with no cancelation fees. The first few months, the rate was fine, but after a few months, the rates were sky high. I called to cancel, they told me that I had to wait until the contract was up in June, 2024 (8 months longer) or pay a cancelation fee. I waited until this month, June, 2024 and called back to cancel. I was told that I could cancel, but they needed to talk to my Dad. I explained that he was deceased. They told me to send in a copy of the death certificate and my power of attorney to customerservice@IGSEnergy.com, since his name was still on the utility bills. I asked what would happen if an elderly person was asked to do these things and didn't have either the capability or the access to scan and upload documents. The customer service representative replied that in that case, as long as the utility accounts were active, IGS Energy would be their distribution supplier forever. I cancelled my Dad's utility accounts the same day. I should have done it earlier, but I didn't want the hassle. Overall, I guess it was my fault, but IGS Energy is only out to make money by any means necessary.

My electric switched even after I explained to the man that I would be charged $150 cancelation fee from my current supplier. Well quess what?!?! I was. So, I switched back to Clean SKY energy at a LOWER rate than igs. Well now I get a bill for $99.00 from igs for early termination even though it had only been a week. Now I get daily calls from THEM saying an unauthorized change has been made to my account . Well, if THEY would just simply listen to ONE of the FOUR voice mails that I left, this could stop affecting me as it is very annoying! The number is the account managers private number and for some reason he feels that my calls are not important . This company is...(I am a lady and can not describe or gripe about my true feelings about igs as they may be offensive towards most of the readers). People, just be careful or simply just avoid igs all together.
