SFE is a amazing program.
My experience was absolutely wonderful. I dont understand why the bad reviews because my bill actually decreased the last 2 years. Philadelphia office is very good. They explained everything to me correctly and my bill was 250$ & they decreased it to 80$ This been my bill for the last 2 years. The door to door reps well dressed, very professional and they are the only supplier for peco & pgw that lock you in at the state lowest for 3 years. All other providers Ive tried they locked me in 2 months low than I start being over charged and double billed. They also lock you in at 180$ for the next 3 years if the average bill is over 150$. They are amazing! Everything you read on the internet is not always correct. If they was a scam the police would not allow they to work the Philly streets. Controls my bills! So worth it!!!
I had a young lady come to my door, she explained I had a daily rate and it allowed me to use up to 10,00KWH for electric and 1000ccf for gas, which allowed me to use more without the pricing spiking. My bills have been consistent and Im not surprised month to month. Now if the utilities could lower the stupid delivery fees then that would be nice.

When I found the rates were not as low as they promised I decided to switch. Two days after switching I got a phone call asking if I had approved the switch after telling them I did they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee. I called the company I switched to and they are paying a portion of the cancellation fee, I dont recall being told their was a cancellation fee.

all my dealings with this company have been nothing but dishonest. a man showed up at my door on a fri evening after dark wearing a peco hat and jacket. he said he was with peco and that peco was changing their energy supplier to sfe. he said i needed to sign a form to continue receiving services. he then stated that for some reason my paperwork was missing my account no. and he asked for an old bill so he could complete the form. he made a telephone call on his phone and then asked me to read from a card that said sfe is an energy provider. last he said peco would plant a tree to thank me for my time. my mistake for not reading the form. it was dark, i was tired, and i believed the guy was from peco. turns out he completely misrepresented who he was with and why he had come. unbeknownst to me, i had signed a 3 yr contract to switch my gas and electric to sfe. i called their customer support and was told by 2 reps that the service had not yet been switched and that all cancellation fees would be waived. that was not the case. i received a bill from sfe for $90 for cancellation of the electric portion and so another call to customer support. this time i was told i would also receive a $90 bill for the gas cancellation and i would be taken to collections if i did not pay. i called yet again and was told by another rep that management had tried to call me and that they were unable to reach me--i have no missed calls on my phone. last, i submitted a negative review on sfe's site and they did not post the review. management is now to call tomorrow. no legitimate company with any integrity would operate like this. and after googling sfe, i can see that their door to door sales force has been preying on the inexperienced, elderly, etc for yrs. amazingly, sfe allows the misrepresentation to continue and then charges exorbitant cancellation fees when the scam is figured out.

This company came to me door and assured me that if I move I could easily cancel this service with PECO. My husband was transferred and we moved out of state. I called SFE gas company and they denied this stating I would get billed for cancellation fees. I sent them a verification document where I moved and they still insist that extra fees for cancelling before contract ended (4yrs) would apply. CAUTION --Do not use or recommend this company

A complete SCAM
Absolute SCAM. They take advantage of senior citizens who do not understand the market. They also take advantage of poorer communities who might not speak english well either! They told my parents that they were being forced to change and that if they were going to have giant pay hikes. They play shady by acting as if they're part of your electric company and going door to door saying they need to update your record on something. They call all the people and they press all the button pretending to be you and skipping the entire fine print over the phone so you don't hear the warnings. My parents signed up (more like they signed them up since they didn't want trouble with PSEG) BUT they were not told that 1, there was a contract for 3 years and that 2, there would be a cancellation fee of 160 dollars.
Advice, if they (SFE) are ever inside an apartment building(or on your lawn) without the super or a tenant, tell them to leave at once or call the police for trespassing on private property. They ARE NOT PSE&G nor do they have any business being there.

Should have known better than to switch to them. A man came to my door saying my electric and heat would go up with my current company, had papers and everything, statistics, everything so he said switching to sfe would save. WRONG! My electric bill jumped 4 times higher than it should have, heat separately went up about 3 times as much. Worst company I have dealt with, customer service didnt understand that I wanted to cancel. Plus the cancellation fee for both is $80 so thats $160 for both. Horrible company feels like a scam and I fell for it.

My PSEG bill before SFE is around $30. After signing up with SFE, bill amount is $176. When I called customer care for cancellation, they told me that the cancellation is fee is $114 and it will take two months time to take effect which means I got to pay like $176 for two more times. I will end up in paying $500+ for no reason. Instead I have given an option to change to a new plan and to a new contract for two years. Per my bad experience, keep yourself away from SFE.

I have dealt with 3rd party suppliers before all of which locked in a max rate per unit of energy used and if rate went down they would match it. This was not the case with SFE. I asked the "sales associate" several times if I was paying fixed rate per unit of energy used - told me I don't understand and that my bill will be cheaper because I'm currently being overcharged. Looked at the next bill and it was fixed rate per day regardless of gas and electric usage. BILL WAS 5X HIGHER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN given amount of energy used. Tried to cancel twice so far and it hasn't gone through.

This company would send an associate to your house door and claim falsely that they are partners of your gas provider in order to make you sign an agreement with them. Then they would charge you a flat $30 for your gas consumption on a monthly basis in addition to the fees of your actual use. Furthermore, they would make it extremely hard for you to opt out of their service by keeping lying to you and giving you fake promises. If you manage to cancel your agreement with them, they would charge you high cancellation fees as if you had begged them to get their service in the first place. I kept calling them and emailing them to cancel the agreement, and every time they would lie to me by saying it was my original provider's responsibility to cancel stop their gas agreement with me. Eventually, I had to play a trick in order to end their scam agreement completely after all of my other efforts to end it failed.

A young man showed up at my door claiming that he can work with me on lowering my PG&E bill. As the dumb and tired person that I am, I showed him my PG&E bill as he asked, and signed up for the service. I thought it was sus that I had to call through my phone to confirm my application. I quickly tried to finish up the entire visit and immediately called customer service to cancel my plan after reading all the horror stories online - especially on reddit. If you keep calling and cancel within the same day (Or in my case, 15 minutes after I shut the door), you should not have to pay any cancellation fees. I even called again to confirm that I wouldn't have to pay fees since I canceled within the same hour.
TDLR; Don't sign up. It's a scam. If you weren't thinking correctly at the time and signed up, cancel within the same day, and keep calling and emailing so you don't pay any fees.

A guy, taking a folder with PSE&G documents, knocked my door told me he was sent by PSE&G to make sure all the residence signed a contract with the current energy supplier to lock the current low energy rate. All residence must sign, then I found a contract of SFE energy NJ with my signature sent to my email. I was asked to confirm the contract immediately by phone, but I refused, telling them I need time to read the contract first. I found according to the contract, my natural gas price will increase from 38C to 83C/therm, and the electricity will from 12C to 17C for three years. Now is winter, I guess my bill will be doubled if they were success. Apparently, they have successful made some residents in my community signed a contract with them. Try to call the campany to recind the contract, never got connected.

SFE is a scam. I used to work for the Maryland location. If you call them out for their awful customer reviews they say things like " Oh its a billion dollar company of course there will be bad reviews. They mistreat their employees. They drop us off in random locations and we have to go door to door ALL day NO breaks. Alot of woman end up leaving because unlike the guys who they tell us to just use the bathroom behind a tree or something the females would have to either wait for a ride to use the bathroom or walk. They do not save you money and all they are trying to do is switch your supplier. Switch at your own risk. Oh yeah one last thing we get our paychecks through cash app. While I was working there I have never seen a paystubs and I was there for a little over a month

My actual power company got in touch and told me it was a scam, so I cancelled. SFE sent me a $250 cancellation bill, which sucked, but I paid it to be done with them. I have not been able to get in touch with their customer service to resolve this yet, but you can bet they're going to get an earful.

Do not ever go for SFE energy. The salesperson is just scamming you by saying that the total gas charges might reduce but they forget to mention the gas procurement charges which they charge every month. It shoots up the bill unnecessarily even if you are not using the gas every single month.
They will charge you a contract cancellation fee as well, which is totally unnecessary.
Stay away from SFE if your usage is minimal.

Strange wording from Rep and contact Rep.
Had a representative that preferred to have his/her name not used came to the door with very very strong pushing for sign up with contract with seemingly good terms. Individual unfortunately would not go into explicit details of various savings and costs, a quick search of BBB complaints revealed that either this particular commissioned worker chose not to disclose the finer print details of costs. Various fees were omitted, including a cancellation fee PER MONTH were not disclosed, or outright glossed over instead going into details about savings without any hard numbers. Further went on to give long stories about how they worked in Maryland and faced discrimination about their asian heritage while working around the neighborhood here instead of providing concrete hard details of numbers and figures.
Furthermore had been pushed into calling an unknown third party that was greatly interested in getting our details and vocal acknowledgements of agreement (more specifically requesting re-acknowledgement to be "Yes" or "I Accept" rather than other terms) and after requesting a brief pause for consulting with family members the agent hung up on us. ( Why is there even a third party handling sign ups in lieu of the actual company representatives? )
Very suspicious experience over all, do suggest caution and to review papers thoroughly yourself or with an impartial (4th?) party that isn't one recommended by door-representative. And also request time to review paperwork and a contact name/number to use if needed.
Representative did display a badge of the company that was verified.

I'll start by saying I'm brand new to the state of PA and I don't remember ever having the option to choose my electricity supplier. When the young woman came to my door, she 100% led me to believe she worked for PECO and they were doing some sort of update and I needed to sign papers and give her my old electric bills, etc. I'm kind of clueless regarding this action and kept asking her, "Please tell me again what this is about?" and again, she explained that she was there to help me save money on my electric bill. I don't recall her ever saying "SFE Energy" and I wonder if that's why this company has someone call you and ask you to confirm that you want to change suppliers. After she left and I realized what had taken place, I was upset to hear I had been misled. I called SFE to immediately quit the service. An email from SFE read "You have until Jan 17th to change your mind and opt out of this change." So I called with weeks to spare and the woman told me it was too late to change suppliers and I'd have to at least go through one billing cycle before I cold change back to my original supplier. All that said, I received my bill today and the rates are HIGHER than PECOS's. I'm so irritated with this company that I spent 10 minutes writing a bad review.

A representative came to my door stating I'm paying $40 monthly which is too high and he can bring it down with switching the supply with SFE. Now they send $283 bill just for gas which I have very minimal usage that it can't exceed $40-$50 at any cost as it's a 1 bedroom apartment with one person living in it and not a Bungalow. And top of that they sent me cancellation charges $255 which was told to me as $7. Why these scammers are able to operate openly and how could PG&E have the option to switch the company if these scams are happening. I will do a lot of their publicity by putting this everywhere if they don't resolve this matter ASAP.

The young lady that came to my door told me how my electric bill would be lower. Received my first bill and because of SFE Energy Maryland my electric bill had doubled. They are charging me a large customer recovery, but I live in an ALL electric home so I will ALWAYS have an overage. The people that come to your home are not knowledgeable about all the extra fees and the customer does not know about the fees until you are already signed up with them. Then they have nerve to want the customer to pay a fee for not wanting to be taken advantage of. I would NEVER recommend SFE Energy to anyone!

Run & run quickly. If I could have put zero Stars I would have!! A gentleman came to my door offering a better rate on my gas & electric. I explained I was in a co-op with my utilities. He told me my electric would be 4.6kwh with them for 3 years. I don't recall what he said the gas would be. We looked at my bill & saw I was paying 4.9 kwh, so trying to save a little money during pandemic times, I agreed to switch. He used my phone to call customer setup, put it on speaker phone & then told me he was going to stand there & "help me through the call-but don't tell the agent that he's there". He wrote yes, no & my account number on his notepad. As the agent on the phone talk to me, he would point to yes or no on his notepad as the answer he wanted me to give. Something felt really off about it but I went ahead, against my better judgment. When the call was over, he told me it would take 2-3 billing cycles for the new bill to come. That was in late June 2022. Well, I got my bill for the month of September 2022, yesterday.... It's normally $56 but this bill was $127!!!! I'm on the budget plan so I called my electric company immediately. The agent explained that even though I'm on the budget plan with them, SFE was charging me 5-something PLUS a daily customer service fee that equalled $44!! WHAT?!?! That was never explained nor agreed upon. So I'm locked into a 3-year contract at 5. whatever with a daily customer service fee.....nope, I'm done. I called SFE to tell them I wanted to cancel service because this is not what was explained to me and I felt like I have been frauded. The SFE agent profusely apologized, told me she would be glad to cancel my service and then told me there's a cancellation/exit fee of $250 per utility = $500! If I wasn't mad before, I'm furious now. I told her that was fine because I needed to get off the phone before I said something I was going to have to go back and apologize for later. I went to work and called on my lunch break and spoke to a different agent and explain the situation and that there is no way that I am going to pay $500 for an exit fee when I feel I've been the victim of a scam and I'm going to report them to the Better Business bureau. That agent profusely apologized and told me to send them a copy of my bill where it shows I'm on the budget plan and they will waive my exit fees. I immediately sent them the email with the bill screenshot attached. I'm going to wait and see what they do but I'm still going to report to the Better Business bureau! This is a scam as far as I can see and I do not recommend them at all!

Came to my home trying to tell me that I had missed letters bge had sent out about how I needed to change suppliers. Despite the obvious lie they seemed nice enough, so I agreed to be sent information on them, clarifying they were only sending information. They stated I should sign up immediately as they could only do it in person with them. I declined, saying I would never sign up without researching, and ended the conversation. Received an email asking me to verify security questions and agree to a contract, which I declined. Found other similar scam issues online and cast them from my mind.
Two weeks later I get letters from my energy supplier saying that it's being switched to SFE that day. I call them to correct the issue, and the person on the phone seemed to take down a complaint and acknowledge that I was not using them as an energy supplier. She asked if I wanted to file a formal complaint, which I said yes to, then placed me on hold. A minute later it went silent, then hung up. I tried to call back and were told they were closed, so who knows if they even bothered to take down any information.

Absolutely terrible! The sales rep came to the door and explained how our bill would be evenly priced throughout the year so we didn't have a fluctuating bill in the summer/winter months. Once we agreed, every bill we received was over $400, a huge job in an opposite direction we wanted our bill to go! On average we paid about $260 A month. Then the cancellation fee was over $500! They are thieves! The customer service people have no idea what's going on when talking to them and they are not helpful. I would NEVER recommend sfe energy

This company is a scam. Someone knocks on your door saying theyve been trying to contact you on the phone, make you show them your energy bill, provide you a lower rate and get you to switch energy suppliers then and there without even 100% realizing it. Its really aggressive, pressure related and dishonest sales tactics sales tactics. You get locked into a 3 year contract and gave 30 days to cancel but thats barely one billing cycle. Once you do get the bill the fees associated with the plan are just as much as the kilowatts! So no its not less expensive (dishonest sales tactics). When you try to switch suppliers to get a better cost cancellation fee is $200! They claim to have a customer service line that you can never answer. Any 5 star reviews are either new clients that havent checked their bill or are fake.

I had a couple of SFE energy people come to my door and tell me some story about how there was an accounting error with my current supplier and I needed to switch or my price would increase. I supplied them with my bill and they mislead me and showed me the wrong information on the page, lying about my current charges and claiming to be able to cut my cost in half for the KWH cost. I guess it is my fault for believing them and not reading everything myself, because my current rate was $0.6 per KWH not $0.12 like they said it was. They also add a $1.30 a day cost on TOP of the increase in cost per KWH. Scammed me and I fell for it. Please do not choose SFE energy, literally any other provider would be better. My bill increased over 100% after they took over, it literally doubled. Cancel fee is $500 as well.

I experienced a very disappointing situation that led me to consider it the worst decision I ever made. I was repeatedly deceived by this company. Despite knowing I had an ongoing lease agreement 1 year, they insisted so much on the cancellation being possible that frankly, they wore us down. Turns out, the reality was very different: now they demand $1100 USD to cancel a service I used to pay $18 USD a month for. It's disheartening to feel manipulated in this way.
I feel deeply deceived and let down by this experience. It's regrettable that a company chooses to deceive its customers in such a manner. My advice to anyone is to never share any information with them. It's a sad situation that I hope others can avoid by learning from my experience

I have canceled this contract three times now. I got physical letters from my energy companies saying I cancelled with SFE but in a matter of days or months SFE keeps restarting my account saying someone called in and restarted it WHEN I LIVE ALONE. The second time I cancelled, I told them to send me the recording of the caller because I guarantee its the girl who came to my door, lied about what company she was with when she asked me to get my bill for a surge charge in the area, and then wouldnt leave my house until I said everything she wanted me to say on the call to start the SFE contract not knowing I have cameras in my house. I cancelled for the FIRST TIME after she left and confirmed the next day that it was indeed cancelled and told them this about their employee. I later find out they restarted it. So I called again to cancel after paying nearly 400 dollar in Columbia gas bills and 230 electric bills even when Im not in the house on vacation, again, its only me here. My bills went up hundreds of dollars from using SFE, WHY WOULD I WANT THEM AS A SUPPLIER?! WHY WOULD I CALL TO GET THE CONTRACT RESTARTED? I WOULDNT!!! I DIDNT!
They never gave me the recording but confirmed that I did cancel that day and said they would do an investigation and send me the recording via email. Next thing I know Im getting a bill in the mail that says I OWE SFE for early termination fees even though it was THEIR REPRESENTATIVE that called back and restarted my policy for her ongoing commission and it wouldnt have been fees seeing as they have been charging me for months UNJUSTLY due to a money hungry commission worker. All calls are recorded right? Send me the recording of the caller that called in if it was me, they have yet to do so. Usually when you cancel an overpriced subscription/contract, you leave it cancelled yet they have claimed twice now that I called back and started it again TWICE . I HATE SFE AND WOULD NEVER AND WILL NEVER HAVE THEM AS A SUPPLIER AGAIN AND THAT IS THE SAME THING I TOLD THE REPRESENTATIVE last time , I even went as far as telling them IM WARNING OTHERS ABOUT THEM, which I did. I went on to tell him that I would never call back to restart the policy and asked what number did they call from. No NUMBER was given. EVEN after recieving ,what was suppose to be the first and is now the second SFE termination contract without investigation, it stated pay this in 10 days or it goes to collection YOU would think it would end there. NO, recently they started it up again. When I got hit by a SEMI and had to stay in the hospital for the recent holidays, these SFE COLD HARDED UNPROFESSIONAL IGNORANT WORKERS decided it was the best time to change it back. CANCEL MY POLICY AND LEAVE IT CANCELLED. I wouldnt recommend them. If you are in the Toledo area they will claim to be with your energy company, they are NOT with Toledo Edison or Columbia Gas. Stay away from these scammers unless you want to pay them over 4000 over the course of 11 months on top of the bill you get for regular gas and electricity because they dont help, it just adds on. Its like you paying two people when you could just pay one.

Sales rep came to my door acting like a pge employee and was already speaking in a somewhat passive aggressive tone and then said he was from SFE and coming on the behalf of pge when I called out his uniform . That was the first red flag I missed. I was told my rates would be lower but I was foolish considering I already get the care credit reduced price. Point is , it locks you into an overpriced 3 year contract and you have 3 days to cancel to avoid the cancellation fee. I was lucky enough to get a customer service rep after about 45 minutes on hold ( probably intentional) and I was able to cancel during the 3 day cool off period (CA). I assure you any good reviews are either in regions where heaters run constantly from year round cold or they are FAKE 100%.
Ive seen on Reddit they dont always truly cancel so to get this done request confirmation number and tell them you will be hiring a lawyer and going after them for deceptive and fraudulent practices and are expecting a cancellation email within 48 hours. After this they came to my door a few more times knocking very loudly. If I lived in Texas I would have .Ill just leave it at that.

Before this supplier my electric bill was on average 30-40 in the winter and 60-90 at most in summer.. when I switch to SFE As my supplier I now pay 100$ in the winter and 150-200 in the summer. And none of it makes sense, I live in an apartment, I compared my bill to my neighbors, who doesn't have a supplier. She's paying of what I'm paying, my kilowatt was less then hers and Im paying 72$ more. I compared my bill to my mom's, who also has a different supplier, she has a 3000sq. Ft. Home, she's paying the same per kilowatt... But my bill was 69$ more then hers and she used over double the kilowatts I did. I unplug everything when I leave... Two men came to my door on 6/25/24. I googled this SFE Energy and cancelled on 6/27/24, just 2 days later and signed up with AP&G. Federal law allows customers to cancel contracts made with a door-to-door salesperson within three days of signing so I signed with someone else. Yesterday SFE called and claimed that the call I made on 6/27/24 was to keep them despite the fact that I cancelled them and that I will have to pay $270 early termination fee if I don't keep them, despite me saying they were canceled. They insisted I would have to pay the fee and scared me into agreeing to stay with them. However, when I called PPL, my electric supplier, they said I have APG as of 07/24/24 and don't show that I ever had SFE. So how can I have an early termination fee? They better not try to charge me or I'm going to the Better Business Bureau.

Their representative came to our door and talked my girlfriend into letting him sign my electric and gas up, that are in my name only.
He lied and said that he was sent by the City of Akron, that they were already our service provider, that if we didnt renew (we just moved from out of state) that my bills would go up, that there would be no change to my bill if she let him sign me up, that they were the aggregation provider for the city, and that she could sign on my behalf. All lies.
I only found out after shed signed and was up half the night reading the agreement and learning everything about utility deregulation in Ohio.
These people need to be put out of business and in prison cells. The only good thing I can say is that if you realize the scam within a week, and confront them the people on the phone will play good cop, like theyre sorry their people out on the streets are spreading lies and committing fraud against vulnerable people.
If youre reading this because you too got swept up in their web, make sure to send their customer service an email documenting their employees lies and call your gas and/or electric companies to confirm cancellation and opt out of marketing through your gas and electric companies. And if you havent already, go to the store and get a $2 No Soliciting sticker, its a worthwhile investment.

I received a cold call to change over my utilities. The woman started her rehearsed script and it sounded fine until I interrupted her to ask questions to verify that this was a legitimate call and not a fishing call. She was mildly flustered by going off script but she was polite. Thank you Lisa. But my concern is that I would be paying considerably more for this program. (Beyond the additional $6 service charge). So after looking at my bill I saw that my delivery rate was coming up as 13.06/kwh vs 15.47 that they were quoting me. About a 16% difference. I called the customer service line and got a third party call center over seas, so I called the number she called from back and got someone who identified as her team leader. He was RUDE. He kept talking to me like I was inconveniencing him. He said that the difference was additional fees that I was not seeing thought National Grid's billing and then he "man-splained" that the difference we were discussing was less than a penny. No kidding. If I were buying one kw of energy then yes, it would be a penny... but I am buying them by the thousand... which adds up. We are talking about a possible 16% increase in my utility bill.

Fail to disclose who they are and are SELLING gas rather than an audit for my current supplier. Should have hung up then and there. The very next day I called SFE to cancel giving all information. Only after a few weeks I got mail and the same day returned the written cancellation allowed by law to Mass-SFE, which was also never declared over the phone, as not being national SFE.
MASSACHUSETTS should also clean up their telemarketing laws.

This is a scam compay
The sales rep for SFE Energy came to our company saying they are an energy auditing company. They work for National Grid to make sure we are getting the lowest rates for our gas supply. They said this is just an audit to make sure we are paying the lowest rates. Also if the rates go down they want to make sure our rates automatically adjust down. Never once did they mention they were a competing company. Their rates are outrageous and their sales tactic is criminal. I am going to file a complaint with the State of Massachusetts.
