On February 1, National Grid <\/strong>electricity rates will drop from 15.5 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 15.372 cents per kWh. Most MA energy customers use about 570 kWh<\/a> of energy per month. So this means the average supply charge goes down from $88.35 to about $87.62. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but keep in mind that most MA homes are using a lot of energy this winter and paying higher bills. This plan will power your home for 9 months for 14.3 cents per kWh ($81.51 average supply charge). On the other hand, if you are staying in your home for a while, then you may want the Clear Guarantee 24<\/strong> plan instead. This plan charges 14.8 cents per kWh, which averages to a supply charge of $84.36. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both rates beat the current and new National Grid <\/strong>rate and customers can find more savings with the discounts from their rewards program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, if you are a college student or only need service for a few months, you might be interested in the NRG Home<\/a><\/strong> Flex Electric Choice Plan<\/strong>. This three month fixed rate plan charges 14.9 cents per kWh, which averages to a monthly supply charge of about $84.93. Not only does this beat the basic service rate, but the plan doesn’t charge an early termination fee. This makes it a snap to cancel if you need to move before the term ends. Lastly, keep in mind that after the three month term ends this plan will renew into a monthly variable rate unless you cancel or switch.
